I am a passionate and caring school social worker with knowledge and experience in substance abuse and mental health counseling. Prior to my role as a school social worker, I was a clinician specializing in substance abuse counseling. As a clinician, I provided individual and group therapy to adult men and women with co-occurring substance use and mental health disorders utilizing integrative treatment approaches.

I recognize the barriers that many African American men may face in treatment. My mission is to shed light on the lived experiences of African American men in substance abuse and mental health treatment because their voices are often unheard, but needed to combat barriers and foster change. It's important that clinicians recognize, understand, and address the unique challenges that African American men face as they navigate through treatment because it can strengthen the therapeutic relationship, promote better treatment outcomes, and create social change.
